Brendan Telfer here and welcome (literally) to the very first, JK’S WORLD OF GOLF roundup.
Every week here at JK’s we’ll look at all the key findings from the past week’s world of golf with special emphasis on our leading golfers.
And where better to start than with the ever-expanding and exciting progress of Ryan Fox whose golfing world is now firmly implanted in the USA with his recently acquired special non-exemption membership status. Yes quite a mouthful but putting aside its bureaucratic sound, this new status represents a major milestone in the 35 year old Kiwi’s golfing career. It doesn’t yet mean he’s guaranteed a start in every event on the USPGA tour, but just about the next best thing.  In reality it means he can use a sponsor’s invite to play in the remainder of the regular USPGA Tour in 2023. As things stand there are about 14 tournaments between now and the start of the FEDEX Cup play-offs which begin in the latter part of August.
If Ryan can accumulate enough FEDEX Cup points over the next 3 months equivalent to or better than that of the official 125th ranked player, he will earn a full playing card for 2024 on the USPGA Tour. This goal should be well within Ryan’s grasp, given the consistency of his finishes to date in America this year.
